Opal Galaxy Necklace

My Process:

To create the mixed metal texture, I use a 20-step process involving heat from my torch, no solder, to fuse the 18K gold dust to the sterling silver base. This creates a unique look but also provides superior durability and texture to the piece. Once the background is complete, I craft a custom bezel so the stone is perfectly set in place and protected for years to come.

Discovered in the 1930 in Australia, Andamooka opal is one of the most prominent opal fields in Australia.  Because of it's matrix and play of color, a 200-carat Andamooka opal was set into a choker and presented to Queen Elizabeth II in 1954. Personally, it's one of my favorite of opal because of its glitter-like matrix and incredible range of color.
